The elegant coupé from 1975 is a real collector's item from a renowned restorer of older Audi models. Our pioneering customer was excited to see how the driving experience of the classic car would change if, instead of a combustion engine, a modern, battery-powered electric motor drove the coupé and offered the car absolute torque right from the start. Since the original and correspondingly old motor mounts would not reliably bear the weight of a powerful electric motor, the experienced company-owned locksmith equipped the Audi with tailor-made mounts. The TV station "Kabel 1" followed the e-conversion of the Audi 100 Coupé including all hurdles and problem solutions by our dedicated team. The report "Elektroauto: Umrüsten statt Neukauf“ ("Electric car: converting instead of buying new") from the “Abenteuer Leben” series can be seen on our website and in the Kabel-1-Mediathek.
Performance
An engine output of 50/80 kW offers the Audi 100 Coupé a brisk acceleration and enables a remarkable top speed of 180 km/h. When converting with the powerful electric motor, the customer was particularly interested in excellent and reliable acceleration.
Range
The battery capacity of 37 kWh built into the rear of the vehicle ensures a range of approx. 225 km. The batteries are fully charged again within four hours. This framework data fits perfectly into our customer's driving habits. All relevant parameters of the new electric drive system are displayed in the original dashboard with discreet round instruments that match the original look.
Special features
The presence of a camera team over the entire conversion period was of course a challenge for our team. But the shyness in front of the camera was quickly removed as part of the demanding electrical conversion and in the end we are proud of the successful conclusion to the satisfaction of the customer and of the successful appearance of our team in front of the TV viewers.
